. kron four's jeff bush explains why people were upset and how the store opened in the first place. >> reporter: it's not every day that a 7-11 store is the center of controversy but that's the case with this store in san mateo at the corner of san mateo drive and bellvue. they have been operating for about a month in this neighborhood but residents in this area complained to the city and said this store is operating illegally and outside the city's zoning laws. >> peter breining , san mateo heights neighborhood assn: there was no determination that this was ever legal by the city, yet, here we are so, there is some process at the city that we don't know about. a building permit was issued to convert the old stangallini's deli into this 7-11 but that doesn't confer legality on the property and that is the issue. neighbors say whoever issued the building permit should have studied the map before issuing it in the first placeand, should have known this is a residentially zoned area of town. garbage trucks, loitering and other things that go along with a store like this were the main
to manchester road. kron four's jeff bush is in san leandro with the latest on clean-up efforts. local residents say that this water main broke was the same location eight years ago and cost the same damage. this water, on this section of the roadway, was too high. and the good news is that the east bay was able to get on the scene, quickly. and there was water main break escaping. and the fact that this roadway is not used that often. mainly at night and never able to get to the problem. also, there has been a low or impact to drivers. jeff bush, kron 4 news. friends and family were back out on the streets of hayward today, passing out flyers for a missing teen. 13 year old delicia moreno was last seen thursday morning at the burbank elementary school where she was dropping off her younger sister.as she does every day. alameda county sheriff's officials believe moreno ran away with 22 year old rubin polanco. but delicia's mother believes polcanco abducted her daughter and may try to leave the country with her. delicia's mother says the sheriff's department is not doing enough to find her daught
and it has some wondering if the officers used excessive force. kron four's jeff bush explains what lead up to the altercation and got reaction from s-f-p-d. >> reporter: san francisco police on motorcycles are seen in this shaky cell phone video as they appoach an 18 year old suspect. according to police the man was fighting with another man prior to the recording. the police say the man in the video walked away from officers when they told him to stop. (albie esparza, san francisco police) >> use of force is never pretty but california law does allow a law enforcement officers to use whatever force is necessary to make an arrest. in this case you see the officers holding down the suspect until reenforcements arrive. >> reporter: including holding a suspect down on the pavement like you see in the video. police say it looks bad but the officers in the video arrested the suspect by the book. >> in the video you see the suspect being held down. we want to make sure we contol the suspect for their safety and the officer's safety. the other officer is trying to handcuff the other officer is tr

norovirus outbreak in at least two schools in lafayette. kron four's jeff bush explains how many students were affected and what the district is doing to address the issue. school officials notified that students here at the burton valley elementary school might have been in contact with the norovirus. this all comes after fridaythere was a higher than normal number of students who called in sick. at least 100 students were school and another school in the district. as you can imagine, parents are very concerned about the situation. >> thomas dwyer, concerned parent: they were doing a couple thingsone of them was to make sure the kids washed their hands before eating and, also, they were going in and disinfecting all the school buses. they figure that a lot of the kids that were out ride the bus also. so, they were doing a lot of cleaning on the buses. >> reporter: in addition to those school buses, district officals hired a special crew over the weekent to make sure that all of the classrooms here at burton valley elementary school get cleaned from top to bottom. i'm jeff bush in lafayet
for a man involved in a shooting in the western part of town. kron four's jeff bush shows you the scene. and explains what happened. >> reporter: hayward police were called to this apartment building on tennyson road just before four o=clock for a report of shots fired. when they arrived they found that one male victim had been shot. he's 24 from oakland. he was treated at the scene and then transported to a hospital. let's take some video that was shot by our partners at abc sky seven and you can see what the scene looked like. dozens of officers combed the lord tennyson apartment complex looking for the shooter. you can see they were going door to door looking for him or any other victims. as it turns out there was only one victim at the scene. the department's tactical unit armored vehicle was called out for backup. officers from that unit were also helping with the search. police say the victim traveled to the apartment complex because of some dispute with someone at the apartment complex, possibly the shooter. >> i do not see a specific danger to the public. we believe that they kn
this little dog because his victim didn't have enough money to give him. kron four's jeff bush shows you newly released surveillance video of the suspect and talked to the woman who lost her best friend. >> reporter: san francisco police provided this video to kron four and it shows the suspect running away after robbing a woman of a few dollars and then throwing her little dog, roxie, into oncoming traffic on levenworth street last friday in broad daylight. this is roxie, a 12 year old picineese rescued from the shelter by the woman who was attacked in the tenderloin last week. roxie and her owner were in the car driving down levenworth but had to pull over to look for the cell phone that was misplaced somewhere in the car. >> he promised me into the with the other hand he was digging into my jacket pocket looking for money. and he found a couple of dollars. when i got out and went around the back of my car he ran up to me and he pushed me against my car with one hand he held my collar and with the other hand he was digging in for money in my jacket pocket and took a couple bucks. >> roxie st
. and kron-4's jeff bush. how are things looking out >> it is raining right now but not as hard as it was earlier. it is starting to come down about midafternoon and it is been like that all afternoon >> this was the scene all around with rain water down the gutters and gray conditions. drivers had to contend with thethis was the scene all around marin countyrain water flowing down the conditions. drivers had to contend with the downpour that covered the streets. windshield wipers were in constant use for most of saturday evening. the rain did cause some flooding in marin county. you can see this road in mill valley was flooded. cal trans crews set up barriers to warn drivers of the flooded conditions. you can see the water was high enough to make it to the top of the curb. puddles sprung up in several places and water splashed with the passing of each car. merchants in san anselmo weren't taking any chances. they had sand bags stationed outside their shops just to be on the safe side. a quick look at the san anselmo creekthe water was moving at moderate speed and, fortunatly, t
berkeley lab to slide and has forced one building and part of a major road to close. kron four's jeff bush shows you the damage and explains what the lab is doing about the problem. >> the hill started sliding last month and seems to be getting worse. you can see the lab has placed tarps over the slide but it continues to grow. the lab has closed down mcmillan road and building 46which is the workplace for administration staffers. cars are forced to take the long way around the slide and the workers in that office building were reassigned to other work spaces until the problem can be diagnosed and fixed. in the mean time, the lab has installed pumps and have dug trenches to take the pressure off the hillside. officials say it is unclear how long the hill will continue to slide. but, until the slide is stabilized the road and the building will be off limits. lab officials say geologists are waiting for core samples to come back to figure out what they can do to shore up this hillside. in the mean time, this roadway will stay closed and so will that office building. i'm jeff bush in berkeley
this afternoon. kron four's jeff bush explains what happened and spoke with the homeowner who caught a fleeing suspect who had broken into his house. >> reporter: pittsburg police were called out early tuesday afternoon oaks by an alarm company. while police were on their way, someone called police and told them they saw four people who were running behind some homes and said they looked like they were up to no good. all the suspects ran, and three of them were caught by police but the fourth suspect was still on the loose. terry fredrickson was home, upstairs at the time and heard a lot of noise. he grabbed his gun and went down stairs to see what was going on. homeowner >> my neighbor's dog cap on barkingi heard my neighbor's dog barking and i looked in my garage to take a second peek and i looked over by the bikes and there he was. it kinda surprised meespecially when he got up i said whoa. >> reporter: but, it was the burglar who would get a bigger surprise when terry pulled his gun and told him to give up. fredrickson >> i drew it and told him to get back down on the ground where he was i
